Middleton Creek Works

12 November 2025

Council contractors are scheduled to start construction of a gabion rock retaining wall on a section of Middleton Creek near the Mill Terrace footbridge. The project has been designed to prevent further erosion of the escarpment along the creek bank, which has been identified as a risk following the major storm event in Middleton in late 2022.

The gabion rock wall will be built 3m high and approximately 13m long. Work is scheduled to begin in late November and is expected to be finished in late January 2026, weather permitting. Some traffic and pedestrian restrictions will occur during some parts of the wall construction. Traffic management will be in place during these restrictions.
