Council has resolved to commence the formal legislative processes to close a 20,635 m² portion of West Creek Road at Langhorne Creek with the intent it be sold to a neighbouring landowner and merged into their landholdings. The landowner will be required to enter into a Costs Agreement with Council prior to Council engaging a surveyor to prepare a preliminary plan for the road closure. The closure must be approved by the relevant State Minister. All costs associated with the process will be borne by the proponent regardless of the outcome of the Minister's decision.

Council has received a formal request from a local resident for the Closure and Sale of West Creek Road, Langhorne Creek between Mosquito Creek Road and McAnaney Road.

As per Council’s Formal Motion (C23315) on 18 September 2023, Council will investigate this request including:

  • The required process to close and dispose of the section of road.
  • Costs involved in the Road Closure process.
  • Potential sales price of land disposal.
  • Investigation into current;
  • Traffic movements;
  • Existing services and potential easements;
  • Access to adjoining properties to ensure not creating land-locked parcels/allotments, and the need for easements for access purpose; and
  • Value to community to close and dispose of this land.

As part of Councils investigation into this Road Closure Request, Council are undertaking traffic data and gathering community feedback to determine the traffic usage and overall impact that this road closure would have on the community.
