Project update

At the 20 October 2025 Meeting, Council received and noted a report titled 'Portion of West Creek Road - Road Closure Options'.

Council resolved:

  • Not to progress the proposal to close a portion of West Creek Road under the Roads (Opening & Closing) Act 1991 for the purpose of merger and sale with adjacent private land.
  • To notify the Surveyor-General that no road process order will be made.
  • To progress the option to close the portion of West Creek Road subject to vehicular traffic under Section 32 of the Road Traffic Act 1961 (the road remains as road but is closed to vehicle traffic for revegetation works).
  • To grant consent to proceed to community engagement on the proposal, noting that a further report on the community engagement outcomes will be presented to a future meeting of Council.

About the project

Council proposed to close and sell a portion of West Creek Road, Langhorne Creek between Mosquito Creek Road and McAnaney Road following a request from an adjoining landowner.

Council has carried out previous informal consultation in relation to this proposal and Council resolved to progress the road closure process.

We asked if the proposed road closure is supported or opposed by the community in accordance with the legislative requirements. Any person who wished to object must also provide their full name and address and provide details of why they objected.

The Roads (opening and Closing) Act 1991 requires specific notification in relation to the preliminary plan for the proposed road closure.

Any person who wished to object must also forward a copy of the objection to the Surveyor-General at GPO Box 1815, Adelaide SA 5001.

The information received from the submissions was also used to prepare a further report to Council to decide whether or not to recommend the proposed road closure to the Surveyor-General.
