FAQ
What will happen to the feedback?
Feedback will be collated and a report prepared which will show patterns and trends to assist with evidence based decision making. This report will be analysed by the administration and a subsequent report will be submitted to Council for review.
I have a specific issue with a road, where do I put this information?
If the road you are using has a defect or requires an inspection, please contact Councils customer service team to lodge a Customer Action Request on 8555 7000 or by email to alex@alexandrina.sa.gov.au
This consultation process is focused on capturing data and information on the proposed draft documents in a structured way and give direction to Council rather than focus on a specific issues on individual roads.
How do I find out what level of service my road gets?
The first step is to determine your road’s hierarchy and then review the Draft Unsealed Road Maintenance Plan for the proposed frequency of proactive maintenance. Once you have determined your roads hierarchy you can use it to review the Defect Specification for intervention levels, resolution time and repair types in Appendix C.
How do I find out what hierarchy classification my road has?
You can look up all of Council’s Unsealed Roads in the Roads Register. In that register will be the current classification, the operational classification and then what Council are proposing that we rename the classification to.
If your road has multiple classifications, this is likely to be because the road changes significantly at a certain point. Council will be making an interactive map available for road users to determine a more accurate determination of a section of road.
What are the documents Council are releasing?
Draft Unsealed Roads Maintenance Plan - Levels of maintenance such as number of grades, repair types, inspection frequency and response times.
Draft Unsealed Roads Hierarchy - Establishes the desired or planned role for each road and thus establishes the future standard for that road.
Draft Unsealed Roads Register - Provides the community with a searchable index of all roads and in turn the service levels they can expect.
Draft Unsealed Roads Hierarchy Review Process - Process for reviewing a road's classification. Intention is to ensure an avenue for appeal should there be a disagreement on the hierarchy classification.
Why are Council undertaking this process?
Council are committed to ensuring our services are in line with community expectations and documented service levels. The consultation process is designed to capture what those expectations are so we can ensure our decisions for our unsealed road assets are based on evidence and data.
There have also been some adjustments made to the documents to make them simpler and easier to use and understand, we would love to hear your feedback on them!
