Project details

Council is seeking feedback on a proposal to close and dispose of a portion of unmade road to the adjacent landowner. This section has not been used as a road for at least 80 years and possibly longer, since there was a realignment of Long Valley Road. The unmade portion of road has been informally occupied over this time span.

This proposal has no impact on current road users or the general community.

The current adjacent owner wishes to regularise their occupation of this unmade road through the closure and acquisition of the road for ongoing farming purposes.

The closure of public road is dealt with under the Roads (Opening and Closing) Act 1991 and Roads (Opening and Closing) Regulations 2021.

The inclusion of community engagement forms one of numerous process components for obtaining consent to close a road, to ensure the public has adequate information and opportunity to view the proposal and make feedback should they choose to. The area of unmade road proposed to be closed is outlined in blue below.
