Council seeks feedback on a proposal to provide an option for a renewal term to the current 5 year lease for the Friends of the Oscar W Inc (FOW) for the Goolwa Riverboat Centre and the Mooring Licence at the Goolwa Wharf Precinct.

The FOW hold three (3) leases and one (1) licence with Council for the operation of the PS Oscar W Vessel as below:

The Goolwa Riverboat Centre Lease and the mooring licence for the vessel at the Wharf are located on community land. As such, the initial agreements could only be granted for a term not exceeding five (5) years unless public consultation was undertaken in accordance with Section 202 of the Local Government Act 1999.

It was clearly identified in previous Council Reports that the duration of these two (2) agreements would be reviewed once the FOW had been operating for a period of time.

The purpose of this community engagement is to seek community feedback on a proposal to vary the conditions of the Goolwa Riverboat Centre lease and the Mooring Licence to:

  • Include the provision of consideration to renew each Agreement for a further term of five (5) years on expiry of their initial term.
  • to establish a common expiry date for all four (4) agreements after 10 years.
