Project updates

Update following 16 February 2026 Council Meeting

Council received and noted a report titled ‘Middleton Skate Park Alternative Location Assessment Outcomes’. Council Members voted against the following recommendations:

  • To discontinue further investigations of the southern end of Abbotts Reserve for a skate park at Middleton.
  • To approve the progression of a concept design for a smaller neighbourhood-level skate park at Mill Terrace, Middleton, and to consult on the design and the proposed location.
  • To bring a report on the revised concept plans and a proposed consultation plan to a future Council Meeting.

As no Council Member foreshadowed an alternative motion, the meeting moved to the next item of business on the Agenda.

A further report will be presented to a future meeting of Council providing revised concept designs and a proposed consultation plan.

About the project

Following a petition signed by 350 people and a deputation to Council on 18 March 2024, Council allocated $20,000 towards developing a draft concept design for a skate park in Middleton.

The proposed site, identified on Mill Terrace, Middleton has potential to become a hub for users of all ages. Award-winning skate park designers, Convic have been engaged to prepare the Middleton Skate Park draft concept design.

Focus group meetings have been held between April and June 2024 to gather initial feedback on the draft concept design. Based on this feedback, Convic have prepared a final draft concept ready for community consultation, scheduled for July 2024.

At the 2023 Village Conversations, a skate park upgrade in Middleton was one of the most popular ideas.

Please note that this project is currently unfunded and will rely on grant funding and community support to come to fruition.
