Middleton Skare Park Alternative Location
Council received and noted a report on an Alternative Location for the Middleton Skate Park at the 15 September 2025 Council Meeting.
Council then noted that the current Half Pipe location (southern end of Abbotts Reserve) has been recommended as the most suitable site for development of a skatepark in Middleton, through independent assessment by DG Planners - Sport, Recreation & Open Space Consultants.
Council approved further investigations at the current Half Pipe skating facility (southern end of Abbotts Reserve), to help determine suitability of the site - prior to community engagement. A report containing the outcomes of the investigations will be presented at a future Council Meeting, along with (if recommended to proceed) a Community Engagement Plan for consultation with the community.

About the project
Following a petition signed by 350 people and a deputation to Council on 18 March 2024, Council allocated $20,000 towards developing a draft concept design for a skate park in Middleton.
The proposed site, identified on Mill Terrace, Middleton has potential to become a hub for users of all ages. Award-winning skate park designers, Convic have been engaged to prepare the Middleton Skate Park draft concept design.
Focus group meetings have been held between April and June 2024 to gather initial feedback on the draft concept design. Based on this feedback, Convic have prepared a final draft concept ready for community consultation, scheduled for July 2024.
At the 2023 Village Conversations, a skate park upgrade in Middleton was one of the most popular ideas.
Please note that this project is currently unfunded and will rely on grant funding and community support to come to fruition.
