Sharing the Draft Master Plan
The Draft Master Plan is now ready to be shared with you. Council is seeking your input and feedback before finalising the plan and seeking external funding.
There is also a static display in the foyer of the Goolwa Council Offices (11 Cadell Street, Goolwa).

About the Goolwa Oval Sporting Precinct
The Goolwa Oval Sporting Precinct located within the Goolwa Town Centre provides:
An open space for community use
Sporting infrastructure including a playing field used by AFL, cricket and hockey; croquet; tennis and netball courts; bowling greens; numerous clubrooms; and storage sheds
A home ground for a number of local sporting clubs being:
Goolwa/Port Elliot Football Club
Goolwa Cricket Club
Goolwa Hockey Club
Goolwa Tennis Club
Goolwa Netball Club
Goolwa Croquet Club
A bookshop and auction space for the Goolwa Lions Club.
The Master Plan will provide Council with a coordinated and strategic approach to the future redevelopment of the precinct taking into consideration the community's needs now and in the future.
The redevelopment of this important community hub is about maximising the opportunities for site users and the broader community to enjoy well-planned, high quality and compliant sports and recreation infrastructure.
Introducing the Master Plan
The Draft Goolwa Oval Precinct Master Plan proposes to provide:
A new centralised multi-purpose community sporting facility that caters for all site users and includes unisex changerooms, community social spaces, player and spectator amenities, storage and more.
Four new tennis and netball courts
New public amenities such as shade structures, seating and playspace
A fitness track around the retention basin which includes fitness equipment and interpretative art
A new Lions Club Bookshop
A new cricket practice facility
Enhanced multi-purpose green space areas with new trees and vegetation
Formalised road and path networks throughout the site
New lighting for the precinct sports fields, courts and surrounds.
Developing the Draft Master Plan
The Draft Master Plan has been developed by:
Undertaking extensive consultation with local sporting and community groups who currently use the site
Seeking input from relevant State Sporting Associations
Considering relevant Council reports, strategies and documents
Undertaking and analysing site assessment, audit findings, industry trends and best practice designs.
Finalising the Master Plan
Survey submissions and feedback will be received by Council until5pmon 3 October 2019.
All comments provided during the community consultation period will be considered and appropriate changes made to the Draft Master Plan. The Final Master Plan will then be presented to Council for further consideration.
Next Steps
Once the Master Plan has been finalised, Council will seek external funding support via application to relevant State and Federal Government Departments. A detailed design process will also commence which will create construction drawings in anticipation for construction of the precinct.
