As part of our renewal program, Council is planning to make minor revisions to the dirt jump facility at Goolwa Skate Park. The jumps have been in place since 2004 and have evolved through various informal modifications over the years. There is growing interest in participating in dirt jumping in the area.
Council has engaged Next Level Mountain Bike, a professional trail builder, to assess remediation and possible improvements for the site that focus on:
Enhancing the rider experience
Create a sustainable and maintainable jumps line
Reducing rider risk and improving safety.
Come along to our information drop-in session and view our proposed concept design.
Stop by any time between 10 am - 12 pm
Monday 7 July (school holidays)
Goolwa Skate Park
We are wishing to share our plans and ideas and engage with the dirt jump riding community on what we are proposing to modify.
Please note that any suggestions should:
Remain within budget
Meet acceptable risk standards
Be sustainably constructed
Provide an inclusive riding experience across a beginner to intermediate range.
Proposed Concept Design
Start Ramp Redesign The start ramp will be reshaped with a reduced roll-in angle to allow riders to generate momentum easily and approach the jump line at a safe, controlled speed.
Progressive Tabletop Jumps Three consecutive jumps will be rebuilt with progressively increasing size, all featuring tabletop designs with generous landing areas. This design improves safety and accommodates a range of riding styles and speeds.
Berm Improvements
The first berm will be reinforced and widened to maintain rider speed and support smooth transitions into the next jump.
The final berm will also be reshaped to guide riders safely back toward the start ramp.
Return Rhythm Section The return line will feature a refined rhythm section, allowing riders to maintain momentum through a series of pumping rollers.
Drainage and Surface Enhancements A new gravel surface will be laid and shaped to improve drainage. This will include consistent out-sloping and grade reversals to minimise erosion and extend the facility’s lifespan.
Works Schedule
Weather permitting, work on the Goolwa Skate Park Dirt Jump Facility is scheduled to begin in July and is due for completion August 2025.
