Alexandrina Council is currently drafting a Recreation, Open-space & Sport Strategy (ROSS).

When completed this strategy will help provide a strategic direction for the future development of recreation and open space amenities within our council area.

The community was invited to submit some initial feedback during our 2023 Village Conversations. Council hosted eight in-person events across the region as well as dedicated engagement pages for each major locality on Council's My Say website.

The Recreation, Open-space & Sport Strategy was one of the topics canvassed during the Village Conversations with community members invited to fill out poster surveys asking a range of questions including what playgrounds, parks and reserves residents visit and why? What informal recreation do residents like doing in our open spaces? What experiences do residents have with dog on-leash and off-leash spaces. Find out what Council heard in our 2023 Village Conversations Report.

As part of the next stage in developing the strategy, Council is facilitating a sporting club and associations survey that will help to identify the current supply and future demand for sporting facilities within Alexandrina Council. The outcomes of this survey will help identify any gaps or future needs for sport within the Alexandrina region.

The survey will be open from 28 March 2024 until 17 May 2024 with links sent directly to all clubs within the Alexandrina Council area.

If you are yet to receive an email from Council, please contact assetadmin@alexandrina.sa.gov.au for a link to be sent to you for completion.
