The intent of the Langhorne Creek Discovery Trail (LCDT) is to create a fit for purpose trail that provides interesting and accessible ways to enable visitors and locals access to wineries, attractions and parks safely by both foot and on bikes. The creation of the LCDT will enhance the visitor experience, increase local community access, and encourage tourism in an environmentally sensitive way.
The LCDT has the potential to widen the demographic and support the many travellers who have a bike hitched to their car, caravan or RV. It will increase visitation, which in turn will heighten spend within the local community and region.
The project contains three major elements:
- Trail infrastructure build that consists of a multi-use pathway and interpretive signage providing a way for tourists to navigate a central 2.8km stretch safely and efficiently
- Working with industry on the development of saleable tourism products that could include cellar door experiences, bike hire, tours, indigenous experiences, nature based experiences, and history of the Langhorne Creek region.
- Marketing the discovery trail
