Consultation has concluded

Alexandrina Council is considering a proposal for the establishment of a new community garden at Reserve 60, Lot 60 Cinema Court, Port Elliot by The Friends of Port Elliot Community Garden, a sub-committee of Port Elliot Town and Foreshore Improvement Association.

A community garden is an area of public land, gardened collectively by a group of people.

Community gardens provide a shared space where people can come together to grow fresh food, learn new skills, relax, connect with their community and contribute to greening community spaces.

The proposal includes the establishment of raised garden beds (shared and individually leased), shelter, tool storage, fruit trees and native plantings within a portion of Reserve 60. As the proposed community garden is intended to be fenced, public access to this portion of Reserve 60 would be limited to membership or public opening hours.

For clarity, access to the garden is planned to be via Elliot Street only as per The Friends of Port Elliot Community Garden Committee ’s design here.

Your feedback will assist Council to make a decision on whether to approve the establishment of a new community-led community garden at this site.

Alexandrina Council, in line with its A2040 Community Strategic Plan is committed to facilitating open spaces which connect its community and encourages social and physical wellbeing.
