Update December 2024

Council have procured the services of a local consultant to review the structures and deliver concept designs for renewal/replacement of both shelters with the intent of reusing as much of the current material as possible and keeping the historical integrity.

To date Council have received back a concept for the timber structure (Shelter 1), which has historic significance, and it is noted that majority of the materials can be removed and reinstated. This structure will also require additional supports to be installed within the roof and sides to help with the integrity and longevity, which will be built in a way that keeps the aesthetics of the structure and will not take away from the historical character.

Council is set to receive a concept design for the metal structure (Shelter 2) that has memorial significance and then will move forward with procuring services to repair/renew the shelters as per the concept designs.

We anticipate for this to be actioned early 2025.
