Wellbeing in our Community: a Public Health Plan for our Region

Consultation has concluded

Keeping well and healthy is about so much more than treating illness.

Healthy communities include open spaces, places to be active, a clean environment, nutritious food. Getting an education, having work, contributing in your community and having access to the services you need are also important to healthy living.

Our health plan is about supporting our communities’ wellbeing in these broad terms. This is how we understand Public Health.

A Regional Public Health Plan has been developed through the Southern and Hills Local Government Association for Adelaide Hills Council, Alexandrina Council, Kangaroo Island Council, District Council of Mount Barker, City of Victor Harbor and the District Council of Yankalilla

The Public Health Plan is a requirement of the South Australian Public Health Act 2011 and will assist the councils to continue to provide healthy environments and support healthy lifestyles across the region. The Public Health Plan will also support planning and partnerships relating to public health.

A Draft Findings and Directions Report and a Background Report have been developed. The Directions Report includes an Action Plan for each local council.

Consultation has been extended to 5pm on Wednesday 15 April 2015.
